While the Foxes approach the fixture unbeaten in 2018, seventh in the Premier League and yet to concede a goal in all competitions, the Frenchman expects a tough afternoon nonetheless.

Peterborough, from Sky Bet League 1, defeated Aston Villa 3-1 in the third round while City overcame Fleetwood Town at King Power Stadium, courtesy of Kelechi Iheanacho’s brace.

“It is dangerous opponent we have to keep a good focus and concentration about this team,” Puel told the national media on Filbert Way on Thursday afternoon.

Puel On Peterborough Challenge

Claude Puel discusses the challenge he expects Peterborough United to pose for his Leicester City side.

“They play good football with good quality on the floor and take the space with quick strikers and they have good players.

“I think about [Marcus] Maddison, [Jack] Marriott, [Anthony] Grant in midfielder. They have a good goalkeeper with [Jonathan] Bond. They are very good for this division.

“Very good players. It is not a surprise they beat Aston Villa away. That was a very good performance for them but this performance shows their level.

“I think it is important to keep focused on our game against any opponent, against any style of player. For me and my team it is important to have a good focus and concentration.

“Of course, we know the quality of the opponent but we play with our game against any opponent. We have to have a good response every time.”

Asked to explain City’s newfound defensive solidity, Puel elected to praise his entire squad for their efforts, saying it is a patch of form that everybody should be proud of.

“Perhaps because we have more control of the game,” he continued. “It is important when we have the ball, the opponent cannot shoot and cannot have chances.

Puel's Fitness Update

Manager Claude Puel provides an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of facing Peterborough in the Emirates FA Cup.

“This is the philosophy of Manchester City for example but we are not Manchester City. It is important to always have a good balance when we have the ball with good quality.

“All the players have to defend together and we have seen a good structure and without leaving good opportunities for the opponent.

“This is always difficult and we will see in the next game if we can keep these good things and, for example, if we can keep the clean sheet.”
