City are unbeaten in 2018, conceding just once, in a run of form which has propelled them up to seventh in the Premier League and into the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round.

Vardy, City’s all-time Premier League top goalscorer, says optimism is high among the Foxes squad as Puel continues to tweak their methods with great success at King Power Stadium.

“It’s definitely moving in the right direction,” he said. “The gaffer has got us playing good football and wants us to keep the ball more instead of just hitting teams on the counter.

“We’ve got different aspects to our game now and you can see that in the performances we’ve been putting in.”

On the impact Puel has made on his own game, the England international added: "It’s obviously different, coming in and linking up to help create space for others.

“You prefer to have it in the opposition box, but having it more is always a good thing. He’s been great, he’s very hands-on and he gets involved in training whenever he can.

“He came in and said straight away that he didn’t want to change too much, he just wanted to give us a different dynamic and that’s what you’re seeing from our performances.

Vardy's Top 10 Premier League Goals

After scoring his 50th Premier League goal, Jamie Vardy reveals his top 10 strikes to LCFC TV.

“He’s always there to talk to, it is great man management. All in all, it’s been a great start and he wants it to continue going forward.”

Everton’s progress under Sam Allardyce, meanwhile, has been key to their climb up the table and Vardy expects Wednesday's clash to be a tough encounter.

He concluded: “Straight away, they started not conceding too many goals. They’ve got a lot of threats going forward so that’s one thing that we need to look at.”
