Stoke have lost only once since Paul Lambert took charge this time last month and, in that period, have picked up five valuable points.

While they currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League table, Chilwell believes the Potters will come out fighting on Saturday.

“In the Premier League, every match is a challenge, so it’s definitely not going to be something that we’re going to go into with the thought that we’re going to win,” Chilwell told LCFC TV.

“It’s obviously going to be a difficult match. They’re battling at the bottom of the table, which makes them dangerous.

Chilwell Previews Stoke Visit

Defender Ben Chilwell provides his pre-match thoughts on the visit of Stoke City...

“It’s going to be a tough match and we’re going to be positive going into it and confident that we’re going to win it, but we’re definitely not going to underestimate them.

“They’re fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table, which makes them dangerous. It makes them go into any game as if it’s their last match and they’re going to give it their all, which we know.

“We’ve been in that position before over the past few years so we know what it’s like. We know they’re a good team as well – they’ve got good players that we have to be wary of. We’re definitely confident that we can win the match.”

When you have a bad game as a team, making sure the next match is a good one is definitely important and that game against Sheffield United, it was obviously important to get the win. It’s a good confidence booster going into this weekend.

City’s solid defensive display last time out against Sheffield United proved to be an important one and with another clean sheet on the board, Chilwell says his side were understandably pleased with their shutout.

Chilwell added: “When you have a bad game as a team, making sure the next match is a good one is definitely important and that game against Sheffield United, it was obviously important to get the win. It’s a good confidence booster going into this weekend.

“Clean sheets for the whole team are important, but especially for the back four and the goalkeeper. It’s nice to get a clean sheet and for the whole team, long may that continue. Hopefully we can get some more clean sheets between now and the end of the season.”
