The Foxes are now top of the Premier League 2 Division 1 standings, three points clear of Liverpool and four above Arsenal, who respectively have one and two games in hand.

While both sides will hope to close the gap over the coming weeks, Thomas believes Monday’s emphatic success is a huge confidence boost for Steve Beaglehole’s Under-23s squad.

City travel to Liberty Stadium to tackle Swansea City on Monday (7pm kick-off) before a trip to Sunderland on 15 April precedes a final-day encounter with Derby County at King Power Stadium on 23 April.

“Everyone’s delighted with the win,” he told LCFC TV at King Power Stadium “We all knew it was going to be a tough game, obviously a top-of-the-table clash.

Thomas Thrilled With Liverpool Triumph

George Thomas caught up with LCFC TV following the Development Squad's victory over Liverpool on Monday.

“At the end of the day, a win was the most important thing and to put on a performance like that as well, [it’s a] good day. It was a great performance as well as the result.

“We passed it really well, found the pockets and passed it side-to-side, playing some exciting stuff, so a good day all round. It’s ours to lose now so three massive games to go.”

Thomas linked-up with Harvey Barnes, who himself struck twice, on Monday, something he revealed is the product of training drills at Belvior Drive.

“It was a lovely pass, Barnsey and I have got that understanding, I do it in training with him,” he added.

“I know he can see the pass and, when I make the run, I’ll get it so it’s always a good thing and I’m glad I finished it off in the end.”
