Dewsbury-Hall Takes Pride In Maiden U23s Strike
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall delighted by his first Development Squad goal for Leicester City
- The 19-year-old scored City's third in a 4-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League Cup
- Leicester's youngsters are now in the hat for the quarter-finals draw later this month
- Dewsbury-Hall says it is always a source of pride to play for his local club
The 19-year-old has been with the Academy for over a decade and he registered his first goal at Under-23s level during a 4-0 Premier League Cup success over Southampton on Friday night.
“I’m really pleased after that,” midfielder Dewsbury-Hall said. “I’ve waited a long time for my first goal. Arguably that was one of the hardest finishes I’ve had, I’ve missed easier ones!
“It was important for us to bounce back after Monday [losing 3-1 at Swansea City in Premier League 2] so I thought the boys did really well and dominated the game.
“The boys were really angry after Monday. We’ve been training this week to get it right and I thought we showed what we can do and we overpowered them.”
Dewsbury-Hall: Let's Keep It Going
Young midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall speaks to LCFC TV following the Development Squad's 4-0 win at Southampton.
On the pride he feels to play for the Foxes, Dewsbury-Hall added: “I’ve been here more than half of my life, it’s my home basically.
"I’ve been coming up through the ranks and it’s nice to be getting closer and closer to the first team. [I've] got to keep putting in those performances and hopefully it’ll come soon.
“It’s important for us to keep our heads grounded. We know we’ve got two massively important games in the league left and we’re in the quarter-finals, but we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves.
"We’ve had a great season, let’s go out with a bang.”
