City forced the Blues into extra-time at King Power Stadium, as Jamie Vardy cancelled out Álvaro Morata’s opener, but Pedro pounced in the 105th minute to settle the last-eight tie.

With a trip to the AMEX Stadium on the horizon, to tackle a Seagulls side who the Foxes defeated in August, Simpson says attention is firmly on finishing the Premier League season strongly.

Speaking to LCFC TV over the recent international break, the 31-year-old right back said: “It’s massively important for us, everyone’s devastated to go out the FA Cup, we put in a good shift.

Simpson Looking Forward To Brighton Test

Talking ahead of Leicester City's trip to AMEX Stadium, Danny Simpson was full of admiration for Chris Hughton's side.

“Everyone put in a performance that we believed was going to be enough on the night, it wasn’t to be. Now we have to concentrate on the league and Brighton have been doing well.

“It’s going to be a tough game so we want to finish as high as we can in the league. That’s our objective now. We’ve got to finish as high as we can, starting against Brighton.”

Remembering August’s clash between the two sides on Filbert Way, when Shinji Okazaki and Harry Maguire strikes sealed victory, Simpson was content with City’s performance.

Goals: Leicester City 2 Brighton 0

Watch the goals from the Foxes' 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at King Power Stadium in August 2017.

However, as a former player under Brighton manager Chris Hughton during their spell together at Newcastle United, the Manchester-born defender advised caution.

“I think it was a good performance, we got a clean sheet and a couple of goals,” he added.

“It was pretty comfortable but they’ve been doing really well this season so credit to Chris, who I know well, and the players there.

“They’re doing a fantastic job and obviously at home, they’re a good team so it’ll be a lot different to our home game, now going to their patch.”
