- The Foxes entertain Newcastle United at King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off)
- Simpson says there are a number of teams battling to finish in seventh place

On Saturday, Simpson is likely to come up against several talented attackers, as he prepares to take on his former employers.

With Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle and loanee Kenedy all on the City right back’s watch list, Simpson knows he will have his work cut out at King Power Stadium.

He said ahead of the game: “They're doing well. I think at the start of the season, a few people had their doubts about them, but they've had a good season. Credit to the players and the manager. I'm pretty sure the fans will be happy.

Danny Simpson helped the Foxes to a 2-0 win at Brighton last weekend.

“Obviously, they're a solid, organised team. I think Matt Ritchie has always been a good player who's a good signing for Newcastle.

“He's got a great left foot and can pretty much shoot from anywhere. So, for me personally as a full back, you've got to keep an eye on him.

“I know Dwight Gayle - I think he's having a good season and always seems to be in the right areas at the right time getting chances.

“You've also got Kenedy on loan who's come in and given them a bit of a lift, so we've got to keep an eye on him as well.”

With the success we've had over the last few years, obviously winning the title and then the Champions League campaign, I think getting seventh would be a decent season.

As the Foxes continue their pursuit of seventh-placed Burnley, Simpson went on to explain why he believes there are more teams to be wary of as the 2017/18 campaign continues this weekend.

“I definitely think we're in with a chance,” added Simpson. “You're saying it's between us and Burnley, but there are other teams that are in with a shout as well.

“With the success we've had over the last few years, obviously winning the title and then the Champions League campaign, I think getting seventh would be a decent season.”
