The Foxes were well beaten at Selhurst Park as Wilfried Zaha, James McArthur, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Patrick van Aanholt and Christian Benteke scored in a 5-0 success for Palace.

City lost Wilfred Ndidi to injury and they were reduced to 10 men, as Marc Albrighton was sent off in the second half, but Maguire wasn’t looking for excuses at full-time.

The England international also issued a rallying cry ahead of next Saturday's visit of West Ham United: “We’ve got to be positive and look to next week and work hard in training.

Maguire: Palace Display Not Good Enough

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire speaks following Saturday's defeat at Crystal Palace.

“We've got two home games at King Power Stadium [the second against Arsenal]. Hopefully we can put a smile back on the fans’ faces.”

Assessing the match overall, Maguire said: “We’re extremely disappointed. We’ve felt like we could have put in a good performance and send our fans home happy with three points.

“From start to finish it wasn’t good enough. It was disappointing and all we can do now is work hard on the training pitch, put things right and look forward to next Saturday.

“I don’t want to make excuses because we weren’t good enough. We didn’t deserve to get anything from the game but at 0-0, there’s nothing in the game.

"We had a great chance to take the lead and they go up the other end and score to make it 1-0.

“There’s obviously small errors that we need to improve on and at half-time we’re 2-0 down and we feel like we need to lift our game.

“We weren’t good enough out there, especially in the last 20 minutes of the second half.”
