Kelechi Iheanacho’s opener was cancelled out by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the second period but Claude Puel’s outfit persevered and restored their lead through a Jamie Vardy penalty before Riyad Mahrez made it 3-1 late on.

Jakupović played his role in the result by making some fine saves and now wants Leicester to replicate their performance when they head to Wembley Stadium on Sunday to face Tottenham Hotspur.

The stopper made several key saves against the Gunners on Wednesday night.

“It was nice to start a game for Leicester and I think we did well and deserved a result,” Jakupović told LCFC TV at the full-time whistle.

“This was very important. Now we have one more game away in London, so we’ll try there to take something and we want to finish the season with a good result on Sunday”

Jakupović’s first Premier League game of the season proved to be a lively one in which he gave his all to help the Foxes secure all three points.

Sometimes as a goalkeeper you’re lucky and sometimes you’re unlucky. This situation happens every week, but for me, I’m happy because of my first game here for Leicester, especially against Arsenal and three points

“A goalkeeper is here to try to save the ball,” he added. “That’s our job and I tried to do my best. Most of the time was good, they only scored one goal, but the most important was to win the game and to have a good performance.
