A squad of 10 from the Club’s Development Squad has been selected to visit the Happy Valley district of Hong Kong for two days of competitive seven-a-side competition.

Last summer, City returned to the United Kingdom as Main Cup champions for just the second time since their maiden appearance in the tournament back in 2012.

However, this time around, the competition boasts one of the strongest line-ups in recent years with Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United among the represented English sides.

Defender Alex Pascanu caught up with LCFC TV in Hong Kong as Leicester City's squad arrived in Asia on Wednesday...

Upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, there was a clear media presence with several members of the local press taking a keen interest in the reigning champions.

Once captain Darnell Johnson had completed his media commitments in the arrivals lounge, the squad moved on to their hotel to recover from a physically draining journey from London.

Following two training days at the home of Hong Kong Football Club, situated beneath the towering landscape, the Foxes will commence their title defence on Saturday.

First up, in Group D, Leicester tackle Singapore Cricket Club at 3:40pm (local) before facing HKFA Red Dragons at 5:22pm and Brighton & Hove Albion at 7:04pm.

Foxes Youngsters Depart For Hong Kong

Leicester City's 10-man squad left King Power Stadium on Tuesday for the Hong Kong Citi Soccer Sevens this weekend.

Defender Alex Pascanu, embarking on his second Sevens trip in a row, told LCFC TV: "We’re all very happy to be here, it’s a very long flight so we’re just glad we’re here and we can’t wait to get started.

"I’m buzzing to just get out there and start playing. It’s pretty much the same set of lads as last year and it’s good to have some training sessions before the matches actually start.

"We’ve been doing a lot of small-sided games, a lot of seven vs. sevens in training. This tournament is all about that so I think we’re well prepared and we’ve been here before."

Hong Kong Citi Soccer Sevens Preview

Coach Ben Petty and captain Darnell Johnson speak to LCFC TV ahead of this week's Hong Kong Citi Soccer Sevens.

Pascanu was a part of the side that lifted the Main Cup title 12 months ago and the Romania Under-21s international has set his sights on repeating that feat this time around as well.

"It was a great tournament and especially the fact that we won it made it even better," he added. "Last year was great, we had some great memories.

"We managed to win the Main Cup which was fantastic and we’re trying to retain the title again and hopefully we can manage to do that."
