The 21-year-old, who scored 10 goals in 31 appearances for the Club’s Development Squad last term, was reunited with his Foxes team-mates for pre-season training at Belvoir Drive this week.

Just before enjoying a summer break from action, Thomas made his senior debut for Wales as a 64th minute substitute during their 0-0 friendly stalemate with Mexico in Los Angeles.

Naturally, such an occasion remains a source of great pride for the Leicester-local, as was playing under Ryan Giggs, who took charge of the Welsh national side earlier this year.

Pre-Season Training Gets Underway

Leicester City's senior and youth players returned to Belvoir Drive for pre-season training on Monday morning...

“That was an unbelievable feeling,” he told LCFC TV, between fitness testing at City's training complex earlier this week.

“I expected the season to be over and then to play with great players, getting coached by Ryan Giggs, it was a great experience... I really enjoyed it and it only motivates me to do more.”

Recalling the moment he learned of his call-up, Thomas added: “I was shocked! But, yeah, great feeling and, especially out in LA, I had never been to America before, so it was another experience.

“Obviously [it was] a great feeling, I told all my family and they were all delighted. It was a real honour to come on as well for the last half-an-hour and I thought I did okay.

“When I was out there, playing with some great players who you see week-in, week-out in the Premier League, it was a great experience and another test as well.

“I came here [to Leicester City] last summer, played with some great players in training and that’s a chance to always try and impress against those kind of players.”

On readjusting back to the rigours of daily training days, sometimes double sessions at this early stage of pre-season, Thomas discussed his eagerness to get match fit as soon as possible.

“I’m feeling really good,” he continued. “Everyone’s back in, obviously in the sunshine, and [it’s] really good getting the footballs out. It was good and everyone can’t wait to get going.

“It’s definitely been tough. We had the running tests straight away but it was good to get the footballs out, get the feel again, and that’s what it’s all about at the end of the day.

“Obviously, in pre-season, there’s loads of running, trying to get fit. I’ve really enjoyed it and it’s good to be back.”
