Albrighton: Let’s Build On This Week

Marc Albrighton says Leicester City will thrive off the physicality of their first two days of pre-season training in Évian-les-Bains.

Four sessions and two bike rides split across 48 hours have provided a significant test for the Foxes so far this trip.

Now, Albrighton wants to use the remainder of the week to build on the hard work he has already put in since returning from the summer break.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Albrighton said: “They chucked us in the deep end yesterday. We started off with a bike ride early in the morning and then went onto two hard, physical sessions and we’re doing exactly the same today.

“The first two days are the main ones, they want to get into us. Then, the football will start a little bit more and we’ll get away from the running side of things.

“The first week back was really good week. I know the fitness coaches and everyone was pleased with how everyone returned and how everyone came back and applied themselves.

“This week is just about building on that and towards the end of the week hopefully we’ll get a bit more football and some more game situations. Then, obviously, we’ll get ready for the games that are coming up.”

Away from the Club, Albrighton spoke of the support him and his team-mates are showing for Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy, whose England side face Croatia in the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday night.

“We’ve been keeping in contact through the group chat and it’s brilliant to see how well they’re doing, especially Harry,” Albrighton added. “He’s getting the recognition now and fully deserves it.

"I know the gaffer and everyone is more concentrated on tonight’s game (France vs. Belgium), rather than the England game, but most of the lads will be focused on tomorrow night and wishing the lads well. Hopefully they can go all the way.”
