A Challenging Game, Says Ndidi

Kelechi Iheanacho scored twice to win it for the Foxes, who after falling behind early on responded well and dominated in large periods.

With their Premier League campaign opening against Manchester United on Friday (8pm BST kick-off), Ndidi says his side can be pleased with the way they overcame a difficult challenge in northern France.

“It was a really, really tough game,” reflected Ndidi to LCFC TV. “It was very good because from the first minute of the game we tried to manage the game at this difficult level.

Ndidi: Confidence Is Building

Wilfred Ndidi hopes that the Foxes can take their positive end to pre-season into their season-opener at Old Trafford.

“This kind of game is really good because this kind of win gives us confidence in our performance level. We tried to manage that kind of situation in the first minute and then we try not to make it happen in the next game.

“The game was very, very challenging so it was a good game for us to go into the next one.

“The idea of the pre-season games is not just the confidence, it is the match fitness and trying to play together again so it was good.

“Because of the international players we didn’t get to play too much but the coach tried to manage the players, giving every one the minutes and I feel we are getting there.”

Nigeria international team-mate Iheanacho has now scored four goals in his previous three pre-season outings – a record Ndidi puts down to the striker’s hard work.

He added: “He is getting there because we work every day in training. I wasn’t even surprised he scored with the head because just yesterday (Friday) we practiced, just me and him, just passes and just playing and try to practice.

“It was good and in the previous games also it was good he scored in these games for the confidence. I hope he can keep confidence for the next games, not just him but all of the players.”
