Maddison's Applause For Creative Foxes

James Maddison believes Leicester City can be proud of the amount of goalscoring opportunities they carved out against Manchester United on Friday.

- Leicester City showed their forward creativity against Manchester United on Friday, says James Maddison
- The Foxes went close through Kelechi Iheanacho and Maddison, before Jamie Vardy fired in in injury time
- Goals from Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw ultimately won the game for the hosts

An early penalty from Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw’s late effort proved enough for the hosts to secure all three points, despite Jamie Vardy pulling one back in injury time.

But the result did not accurately reflect the way City performed at Old Trafford, with Maddison himself denied by David De Gea’s brilliant save.

“Ultimately, we’re coming away with nothing,” Maddison told LCFC TV. “It’s disappointment in the changing room because we felt like we could have got something from the game.

"We had a lot of positives, especially in the first half, but we’re coming away with nothing. We’re bitterly disappointed in the changing room.

Maddison Gives United Assessment

James Maddison reflects on the positives as the Foxes return from Old Trafford empty handed after losing 2-1.

“If you take the result out of it and look at the performance, there’s definitely positives to take into the next games.

“We had a bad first few minutes because when you concede so early at a place like Old Trafford, you give yourself so much to do.

“It’s hard to come back from that, but it spurred us into life if anything and we looked really strong in the first half. We created chances and we were dominant with the ball. Ultimately, we go home empty-handed.”

Maddison impressed on his first Premier League appearance for the Club and, despite the loss, was naturally delighted to play at Old Trafford in Leicester blue.

“This is the stage I’ve worked hard to get to,” he continued. “I started in League 1 with Coventry and I worked my way up. I’m delighted to be – it’s where I want to be.”

We came to Old Trafford and put on a good performance in my opinion. I think teams will be looking at us and thinking that we were good on the night.

The Foxes next entertain newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers at King Power Stadium in their maiden home fixture of the season.

He added: “We came to Old Trafford and put on a good performance in my opinion. I think teams will be looking at us and thinking that we were good on the night.

“It’s about winning the game and we didn’t manage to do that, but there’s positives and we can take that into the Wolves game next week.
