The young Foxes midfielder, 20, has been in sensational form for the Sky Bet Championship side, scoring two goals in three matches, and Tuesday proved to be another profitable outing.
Barnes started at The Hawthorns against the League 1 side, but it was Oliver Burke's goal which sealed victory, confirming West Brom's place in the Second Round.
Elsewhere, goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, 21, featured for Oldham Athletic during their 2-0 defeat by Frank Lampard's Derby County at Boundary Park.
The Rams took the lead when Harry Wilson's free-kick was touched into his own net by Sam Graham before Mason Mount's second goal for the club sealed their safe passage.
Finally, 21-year-old midfielder George Thomas started as Scunthorpe United lost out 2-1 to rivals Doncaster Rovers at Glanford Park, with Mallik Wilks and Danny Williams finding the net for the visitors.
