The Foxes climbed to the Premier League 2 Division 1 summit with goals from Raúl Uche Rubio and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall securing back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Beaglehole, the Club’s Senior Professional Development Phase Coach, reflected on the clash with LCFC TV, commending his players for winning out in testing circumstances.

“I am delighted, it’s a great achievement to be top of the table at such an early stage of the new season,” he said, pitchside at Pride Park.

Knight, pictured, played a key role in Uche Rubio's opener.

“People sometimes get it wrong about this standard of football. No side in the league is a poor side, they’re all competitive and Derby have some very good players.

“We weren't at our best tonight, I felt we could have done more in certain areas, but we scored a great goal from a set-play and we looked comfortable after our second as well.

“It should have been a lot more than that, but to say I expected more on a night in which we won 2-0 shows the progress we are making.”

[Uche Rubio] is one of the best finishers we’ve got, he’s very good in the air, and he scores goals

Beaglehole also saved a mention for Uche Rubio, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Real Betis B, and has scored twice in as many games for City’s youngsters this term.

“He has found it hard to adapt to English football but he is one of the best finishers we’ve got, he’s very good in the air, and he scores goals,” Beaglehole added.

“He’s started to do that and, if he remains in that mindset, he could have a great career here.”
