The Leicester City Academy graduate described it is a standout moment in his long career ahead of the Three Lions’ return to Filbert Way next week.

It is a fixture Heskey believes will be well remembered by City fans, who have the opportunity to watch an England side that won the hearts of the nation at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“All my memories of playing for England are the same,” Heskey told LCFC.com. “The excitement of putting on the jersey and entertaining and playing for your country, it’s a great honour to do that so they were my memories of all international games.

Emile Heskey played over an hour in front of the King Power Stadium crowd against Serbia and Montenegro.

“To actually play in front of my home crowd is something that I’ll cherish for my whole life. Eventually putting on that captain’s armband as well, I’ve got a picture of that at home, it’s something that sticks with me.”

Foxes centre-back Harry Maguire may also be able to share the feeling of representing his nation in front of a home crowd as Gareth Southgate’s men take on Switzerland at King Power Stadium.

“I was very proud,” Heskey said of his appearance on Filbert Way. "Obviously, I was playing at a different stadium but it’s still my home club, and in front of your home crowd. It was just an honour to do that.”

It will also be a memorable moment for the Football Club, who have the honour to host an England international friendly for the second time in their history.

Heskey continued: “It’s always nice to have games at the national stadium and being able to fill that up with 90,000 people but being on the road is great as well

“There are some fans that won’t be able to make it down to London regularly enough to watch the national team, but the fact it’s on the road now they get the chance to watch their idols put on that shirt.”
