Çağlar Söyüncü earned his 16th cap for Turkey and George Thomas scored a brace for Wales Under-21s in Friday night's international action.
More on this story...

- Leicester City defender Çağlar Söyüncü plays the full 90 minutes for Turkey on Friday
- Turkey suffered a 2-1 defeat by Russia in their UEFA Nations League opener
- George Thomas scored twice for Wales against Liechtenstein in UEFA U21 Euro qualifying
- Bartosz Kapustka, Daniel Iversen and Alex Pascanu also featured for their U21s sides

Söyüncü, 22, started in the heart of defence in Trabzon, but goals from Denis Cheryshev and Artem Dzyuba - either side of a Serdar Aziz strike - gave Russia a 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory.

Mircea Lucescu, the Turkey manager, elected to play Söyüncü for the full 90 minutes and, following an appearance for Leicester City's Development Squad last month, the defender is returning to full fitness.

On Tuesday, Söyüncü and his Turkey team-mates will travel to Friends Arena in Stockholm to tackle Sweden, aiming to get their first points on the board in League B Group 2 of the Nations League.

Elsewhere, young midfielder Thomas, on loan at Sky Bet League 1 side Scunthorpe United, registered a brace of goals for Wales Under-21s in a 2-1 success over Liechtenstein in UEFA U21 Euro qualifying.

Midfielder Bartosz Kapustka is a regular for Poland U21s.

Thomas, 21, struck twice in the opening 20 minutes, before Lukas Graber's late consolation, securing a win which leaves Wales fourth in Group 8, five points adrift of second place with three games to play.

Bartosz Kapustka's Poland Under-21s, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with Faroe Islands, putting them second in Group 3, one point behind leaders Denmark, who had Daniel Iversen in goal on Friday.

Foxes stopper Iversen, on loan at League 2 outfit Oldham Athletic for the 2018/19 season, played the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 victory against Finland for his country's Under-21s.

Defender Alex Pascanu, on the other hand, was dismissed for a second yellow card in a 2-1 win for Romania Under-21s, keeping the gap to Group 8 leaders Bosnia and Herzegovina to just three points.
