City had to repel the Magpies attack during several stages, while a fine Jamie Vardy penalty and Harry Maguire’s powerful header sealed three points for the visitors.

Also pleased with his side’s fourth shutout in all competitions this term, Ricardo believes City’s defiant back line should also take credit for the triumph.

“[It was] a very good afternoon, more importantly it was a win, we did it and a clean sheet is even better,” Ricardo told LCFC TV.

Ricardo: We Were Strong

Ricardo Pereira reviewed Leicester City's 2-0 victory at St James' Park with LCFC TV.

“I think it’s very important, when we play away, to be defensively strong and then when we have opportunities to score, we did it and that’s the most important.

“At the beginning of the second half it was difficult in the first 10 minutes, but then we arrived to control the game and we had the opportunity and we scored the second.

“I think we killed the game with the second goal.”

Ricardo, making his sixth Premier League appearance in Leicester colours, went close himself in the first period after being denied by Martin Dubravka.

It was important to score the second goal because at 1-0 it’s always difficult, one ball, one set piece, they can score like we did and with the second goal, we had another way to control the game.

He added: “I think it’s part of our game to play down the flanks, the whole team was good, and that’s the most important thing for all the players.

“It was important to score the second goal because at 1-0 it’s always difficult, one ball, one set piece, they can score like we did and with the second goal, we had another way to control the game.”
