Leicester City are riding a wave of optimism following successive Premier League victories, says in-form midfielder James Maddison.

The Foxes have defeated Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United either side of a Carabao Cup Third Round penalty shootout success at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now Maddison, who has three goals and two assists so far in his debut top flight campaign, is looking to the future and hoping City can climb into the upper regions of the league standings.

“Anytime you get back-to-back wins in the Premier League it’s a good sign,” he said this week.

Goals: Newcastle United 0 Leicester City 2

A Jamie Vardy penalty and a Harry Maguire header secured a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James' Park.

“We’re doing really well at the minute, there’s a great spirit around the place and training’s been really good and we’re keeping to high standards so long may that continue.”

After sealing a second away victory of the season at St James’ Park last weekend, City return to Filbert Way for a clash against Everton on Saturday (3pm BST kick-off).

“On the road in the Premier League it’s hard to get three points, everyone knows that, it’s never easy to go away, especially to St James’ Park,” Maddison, 21, added.

“They get a lot of fans and the atmosphere can be very electric. We went there with a game plan and we mastered it perfectly and we came away with the three points which I think we thoroughly deserved on the day.”

That’s fantastic at any point of the Premier League if you get three in a row. We’ll work hard on the training pitch and we’ll go into that the best prepared we can.

On the task at hand against Marco Silva’a men at King Power Stadium this weekend, meanwhile, Maddison continued: “Everton are a good side, there’s no doubt about it.

“They’ve spent a lot of money in recent years and they’ve got a good squad with a lot of quality and it’ll be a tough test and it’ll be brilliant for us if we can go into the international break off the back of three wins in a row.
