Ndidi Nominated For CAF Youth Player Of The Year

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is among the nominees for the 2018 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Youth Player of the Year award.

- Wilfred Ndidi, 21, has been nominated for the CAF's Youth Player of the Year award
- The tough-tackling midfielder represented Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the summer
- Ndidi is among six candidates up for the prestigious honour, to be announced in January
- The awards ceremony takes place in Dakar, Senegal on Tuesday 8 January, 2019

The 21-year-old midfielder, currently fifth in the Premier League's tackling charts, starred for the Super Eagles in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

He played in all three of his country's group stage fixtures, including a memorable 2-0 victory over Iceland at Volgograd Arena in June.

Ndidi has been nominated alongside Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), André Onana (Cameroon), Ismaïla Sarr (Senegal), Mahmoud Benhalib (Morocco) and Franck Kessié (Côte d'Ivoire).

The 2018 CAF Awards will take place on Tuesday 8 January, 2019 in Dakar, Senegal following the announcement of nominees in seven categories were announced on Friday. 

Meanwhile, Ndidi's category will be selected by the CAF's Technical & Development Committee, media experts and quarter-finalist coaches in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
