Victor Camarasa’s long-range, injury-time effort sealed three points for Cardiff at King Power Stadium on Saturday after Neil Etheridge had saved James Maddison’s 75th-minute penalty.

Mendy believes that while the Foxes’ loss to the Bluebirds proved to be a disappointing end to 2018, they must accept the defeat and prepare for the challenge of Everton on New Year's Day.

“It’s big disappointment but we tried and we know it was a difficult game, we played against a strong team who were very compact,” Mendy told LCFC TV when reflecting on the Cardiff game.

“We tried to find a solution, but we never arrived to make a good pass between the lines.

Mendy: We Have To Stay Focused

Nampalys Mendy spoke to LCFC TV after a 1-0 defeat to Cardiff at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

“I think the second half was a little bit better, we tried to move more but we are unlucky, we have some occasions where we didn’t score and they shot one time and scored - that’s football.

“Sometimes, we play difficult games like today and we have to take a minimum of one point. We have to draw if we can’t win.”

Tuesday’s trip to Goodison Park will mark a fourth Premier League fixture in the space of just 11 days for City.

It’s a chance to recover quickly and to stay calm because we have a lot of games so we must stay calm, don’t panic and we’re confident for the next game.

While it has been a testing run of games in which Leicester have amassed six points from a possible nine, Mendy insists the Foxes will remain concentrated on Merseyside.

“Now we have to stay focused because we have a big game against Everton,” added the Frenchman.

“It’s a chance to recover quickly and to stay calm because we have a lot of games so we must stay calm, don’t panic and we’re confident for the next game.”
