City will come up against Michael Flynn’s Sky Bet League 2 side in a clash which is likely to pose a unique challenge for Claude Puel’s men at Rodney Parade (4:30pm GMT kick-off).

Following the New Year’s Day success at Everton, the Foxes go into the clash on the back of three Premier League victories in four games over the festive period.

However, Evans, 31, says that he expects the experience of facing Newport to be like nothing City have experienced so far this season, saying that a professional performance will be required.

Evans Talks Of FA Cup Prestige

Jonny Evans says he ranks the Emirates FA Cup highly as Leicester City ready themselves for a third round trip to Newport County.

“Obviously, you want to have seen the players playing but we’ll do a lot of analysis on it this week leading up to the game, which we do for every game,” he told LCFC TV.

“Especially with teams you don’t know too much about, you probably look at them in a bit more detail and see what strengths they have to oppose us.

“We have to make sure when we do go into that game, we’re not caught with any surprises.”

Sunday’s fixture is likely to attract a big television audience and, considering the FA Cup’s reputation for surprise results, Evans also stressed the importance of City being in the right mindset.

He added: “A lot of it’s a mental test as much as anything, the game is going to be on TV and there will be a good atmosphere down there, I’m sure. They’ll be really up for it.

“I think they’re sitting about mid-table in League 2 so they’ll be thinking it’s a chance for them to go on a cup run themselves and bring something for their club to cheer about this season and for their fans.”
