Claude Puel’s men head to South Wales on Sunday (4:30pm GMT kick-off) to face the Sky Bet League 2 outfit at Rodney Parade.
Northern Ireland international Evans says the FA Cup has been a point of discussion at the Club since he joined from West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2018, and is targeting a lengthy run in the competition.
Evans told LCFC TV: “It’s obviously a really historic competition with a real prestige about it – I think over the years it always has been, even growing up as a kid.
Jonny Evans played 90 minutes during Leicester City's 1-0 win at Everton on New Year's Day.
“For me that was always the big one, getting to the FA Cup Final. I think maybe over the last couple of years the Premier League itself has taken a bit of shine off the competition but it’s one that everyone wants to win, especially a club like ourselves.
“Since I’ve come to the Club it’s been a competition that everyone has spoken about and it’s well within our sights.”
Evans wants the Foxes to better their run in the Carabao Cup after exiting the competition at the quarter-final stage last month following a penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City.
There will be a couple of tricky fixtures early doors, like the game at the weekend. If you can get through them, before you know it you’re really close to getting to the semi-final or the final at Wembley.Jonny Evans LCFC TV
“There was disappointment with that, but I think also it can give us something to cling on to and we were so close to getting to Wembley,” added the defender. “We know that you have to concentrate in your games early on.
