Morgan: We Have To Do Better

The Foxes suffered a 2-1 defeat to Southampton at King Power Stadium on Saturday, despite the visiting side playing the second period with 10 men following Yan Valery’s dismissal.

Wilfred Ndidi halved the deficit for City following James Ward-Prowse’s penalty and a strike from Shane Long, and while they enjoyed 72 per cent possession, they could not breach the Saints’ back line for a second time.

Morgan told LCFC TV: “At home we want to pick up points and put in good performances, and especially the first half, we were very sloppy.

“We were getting into good positions and the ball was breaking down for no reason. We conceded two very sloppy goals, which isn’t like us.

“It’s obviously very frustrating to go in at half-time 2-0 down when we felt we should have done a lot better.

“We tried and tried in the second half. I’m not sure what the possession stats would have been, but it was waves and waves of attack. We got one goal, but we couldn’t get the second and it’s difficult.

“They had 10 men and they stayed in two solid blocks, which was very difficult to break down and we couldn’t get through. It’s very frustrating.

“We shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place. 2-0 down just gives us a very tough task and we’ve got to start looking at our performances and doing a lot better.”

Leicester next head to Molineux Stadium for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off to face Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It is a fixture that Morgan hopes City can continue their productive away form in having beaten Chelsea and Everton on the road over the festive period.

“It’s a big game,” said the skipper of next weekend's game. “It’s two losses against two teams we’d expect to do well and get results against.

“We’re facing a tough team in Wolves, they’re in good form and we know it’s not going to be easy.

“But our results on the road have not been too bad, so hopefully we can get back to winning ways.”
