Leicester City Development Squad goalkeeper Viktor Johansson says the return of three players from injury this week bodes well for the future.

- Leicester City's Under-23s were defeated 1-0 by Derby County on Friday evening
- Cameron Cresswell found the net for the Rams in the 29th minute at King Power Stadium
- Sam Hughes, Layton Ndukwu and Raúl Uche Rubio returned from injury
- Johansson says it is a 'positive' development as the season reaches a key point

Sam Hughes, 21, captained the Under-23s while Layton Ndukwu, 20, and Raúl Uche Rubio, 21, emerged from the bench in Friday night’s 1-0 defeat by Derby County at King Power Stadium.

Hughes has been limited to one substitute appearance this season with a back injury while Ndukwu (back) and Uche Rubio (shoulder) have not featured since September and October respectively.

“We’re pleased they’re back and it’s positive that they’re coming back into the team,” Johansson told LCFC TV at full-time on Filbert Way.

“I thought they all did well today so hopefully we’ll see more of them.”

Reflecting on the Derby result, where Cameron Cresswell's 29th-minute strike settled matters in Premier League 2 Division 1, Johansson, 20, admitted that City didn’t do enough.

He added: “It was a difficult game really. We didn’t get up to speed quick enough. It was a bit sloppy at times, I thought we improved in the game though, especially the second half.

“We came out as a new team but we just couldn’t score today. They were hard to get through, it was a difficult game and when they scored early, we wanted to score as well.

“We just have to try to win every game and play at our best [to stay at the top of Division 1], that’s what we have to do.

“I love it here, it’s a great club, great atmosphere, all the lads are superb, the coaching staff, everything is really nice.”
