The Foxes were at their expressive best as goals from skipper Wes Morgan and Jamie Vardy - either side of half-time - sealed a third consecutive Premier League success.
Rodgers was particularly pleased with the symbiosis between City's assured defensive play and their fearsome attacking endeavour - a hallmark of his early games in charge.
Speaking to LCFC TV in the tunnel, following his third win as Leicester manager, Rodgers said: "It's a really good feeling. There were a lot of positives from today.
"Fundamentally we defended very well against a team that can really test you and I think everyone will have seen that earlier on in the season.
"They’re very fast, very quick, but we controlled that part of the game well and then offensively, our ideas are starting to come through.
"The possession... but not just that, the dangerousness of it, so we were a real attacking threat. Our build-up play is improving.
"It’s going to take time for total confidence in it, but the players are embracing it and looking to work the game through the pitch.
"Like I say, we defended fundamentally very well. I’m so happy with the hunger that we had in the team to press the game, to suffocate the opposition, and it was a very good performance."
Rodgers' teams are renowned for their attacking potency, but the Northern Irishman says that is only possible with a strong defensive unit to sit behind offensive players.
With a first clean sheet of his Foxes tenure now secured, Rodgers paid tribute to the efforts of his defensive players.
"In order to attack well, you need to defend well so the players are understanding that," he added.
"Fundamentally you need to press the game and defend and have that hunger to get the ball and the players were absolutely incredible at that.
"Especially on the backend of an international couple of weeks, with so many playing, so the tactical discipline in the game was good."
"I think what we did very well today, we attacked in numbers, but we had good security behind it.
"We never really opened ourselves up for the counter attack. It was, all round, a very, very pleasing performance."
