The Blue Army were crucial in creating a calm atmosphere during Sunday’s 3-0 triumph over Arsenal, according to attacking midfielder James Maddison.

- James Maddison credited the Club’s supporters during Leicester City’s victory against Arsenal
- The Foxes won 3-0 thanks to Youri Tielemans’ header and a double from Jamie Vardy
- Maddison provided the assist for Tielemans’ opening goal
- The triumph will be assessed by Gerry Taggart and Matt Elliott on Extra-Time on Monday night at 6pm BST

The Foxes were impressive throughout the encounter at King Power Stadium and gained a one-man advantage when Ainsley Maitland-Niles picked up two first-half bookings.

City did not force the issue, though, and it was Maddison who produced an excellent delivery to unlock the Gunners’ defence as Youri Tielemans nodded in past an in-form Bernd Leno.

A brace from Jamie Vardy added to the Belgian international’s opener, as City recorded their biggest-ever Premier League victory over Arsenal.

“We came away as 3-0 winners and it could have been a lot more,” Maddison told LCFC TV. “The lads put everything out there.

“Even when Arsenal went down to 10 men, we knew that sometimes that makes the challenge even tougher instead of easier, but even [with Arsenal] at 11 men, we were dominating. The lads were brilliant to a man.

“We knew we had to start quickly. Arsenal haven’t been the greatest on the road, so we knew that if we got in their faces early, got high up the pitch, pressing high, we’d create chances. We did that, and we had so many chances in the first half without the ball going in.

“But we stayed calm at half-time, when in previous months we might have panicked a little bit against 10 men, still 0-0, crowd start getting on your back because you’re not winning against 10 men.

“There was a calmness around the whole stadium – the fans believed in us and we got there in the end and scored three good goals.”

Maddison has now contributed to 14 goals for the Foxes during his debut season in the Premier League, registering his seventh assist against the Gunners to add to his seven strikes.

The City No.10 said: “It’s always nice to chip in with goals and assists. I know what Youri [Tielemans] is like – I see him in training every day.

Man City will be the toughest challenge yet away at the Etihad with them having so much to play for, but we’ll go there with a game plan and carry it out like we did.

“He likes to break the box and that’s why he’s a mature player who scores goals. As soon as the ball came back to me from Marc [Albrighton], I knew I had one thing on my mind to get it out of my feet and put a good delivery.

“Thankfully it was on the money and Youri nodded it in.”

City’s remaining two fixtures arrive in the form of an away clash with Premier League leaders Manchester City, before their 2018/19 campaign ends with a King Power Stadium showdown with six-time champions of England Chelsea.

“Let’s go and win the other two now!” added Maddison. “They are two tough fixtures, but we showed that we are capable of competing with the best.
