Leicester City must aim to muster up more goalscoring opportunities during their next Premier League outing, according to right-back Ricardo Pereira.

- Ricardo Pereira wants Leicester City to carve out more goalscoring chances following a 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers
- The Portugal international was pleased his side were able to record a shutout against a threatening Wolves side
- Matt Elliott, Arlo White and Rob Tanner will assess the draw on Monday’s episode of Extra-Time (5:45pm BST)

While City enjoyed 70 per cent possession and made over double the number of passes compared to their opponents, they couldn’t breach Wolverhampton Wanderers’ defence on Sunday.

Ricardo says the Foxes are naturally frustrated to not get their 2019/20 season off to a winning start, but knows there is value in ensuring they did not suffer a defeat.

“It’s always important to keep the clean sheet, we’re closer to winning if we do that,” Ricardo told LCFC TV. “For us defenders, not only us but also the team, it’s important and it’s a good start.

“It was difficult to defend well with a block on and it was compact and difficult to get through.

“We had some difficulties; we had a lot of the ball, but we have to create more chances and it’s important to score and create opportunities for that.

“Of course, we wanted to start with a win here at King Power Stadium but if you can’t win then you can’t lose.”

Of course, we wanted to win, but we have to keep growing and learn from our mistakes and do even better next week.

City next take on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea on Sunday 18 August (4:30pm BST kick-off) at Stamford Bridge, where they won 1-0 last campaign thanks to Jamie Vardy’s second-half strike.

“Of course, we wanted to win, but we have to keep growing and learn from our mistakes and do even better next week,” added Ricardo.

“We know there are no two games that are equal, we know it’s going to be different [against Chelsea], this year it’s going to be tougher, but we’ll do our best and we know we have our chance.”
