The Northern Irishman is set to return to the Merseyside giants for the first time since his three-year spell at the Reds with a vibrant and in-form Foxes side.
City will come up against a Liverpool team, meanwhile, who have won their last 16 matches in the Premier League, including the first seven of the 2019/20 campaign.
Assessing the challenge he expects Jürgen Klopp's men to pose, Rodgers said: "We just want to continue with our performance level. We know it’s going to be a really, really difficult game.
"Liverpool are on an incredible run, at home and away, in terms of winning games in the Premier League, so we’re under no illusions of the task.
"It’s a great opportunity for us to test and challenge the quality of their team and that’s something that we’ve been looking at since we’ve worked together.
"We're bringing a real positive mindset into our games, a real aggressive mentality, no matter who the opponent is.
"As we move along, the players are having that belief. No one expects us to get anything from the game, that’s the reality [against] Liverpool in the form they are in.
"However, for us, we go into every game to look to perform, to work well and see where it takes us."
Rodgers repeated his desire to see Leicester 'impose' their style of play on the opposition, wherever City play or whoever they come up against.
"Well, we go there to test the Champions League winners, that’s our job," Rodgers continued.
"We go there with the belief in how we’re playing and we believe that when we can go and play to that level, and work as well as we have been, that we can match any team.
"That’s what we’re looking forward to and what I’m looking forward to seeing in the game on Saturday, seeing how we can then go and impose our way of playing.
"We recognise, of course, we’re playing against a top-level opponent. Like I say, they’re European champions currently, so it’s always going to be a tough game, but we’re excited by that."
