Vardy was on target late on to add to Çağlar Söyüncü’s 57th-minute header to make it seven wins from 11 outings in 2019/20.

Tielemans delivered a typically high-quality display at Selhurst Park, and praised City’s ability to manage the game in south London.

“We scored one goal in the second half, and then we tried to keep the scoreline like that and manage the game,” said the Belgium international midfielder.

“We know it’s a tough place to come, and if we score a goal like that in the end of the game, then it means that we are very good.”

The City No.8 was also thrilled that Turkey defender Söyüncü’s excellent defensive displays this term were rewarded with his maiden Foxes goal.

“I’m very pleased for him,” he said. “He deserves one, especially when you see his great work at the back, winning all of his aerial duels. It’s great for him, for his confidence and for our team as well.”

Vardy, meanwhile, says his 10 Premier League goals this term have come as a result of the opportunities his fellow Foxes are creating for him.

“It was a big result,” said Leicester’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer. “We knew it was going to be tough. We’ve struggled here in the past, so to get the three points and a clean sheet, we’re over the moon.”

Vardy has scored eight goals in his last nine appearances against Arsenal, including a brace against the Gunners at King Power Stadium in 2018/19, while Tielemans was also on target during the clash.

“I’m just taking each game as it comes,” said the Foxes striker. “I’m getting a lot of chances fed to me from my team-mates and at the minute I’m taking them, so I’ll knuckle down this week during training, get a bit more practice in and look forward to the game next week.”
