Leicester City’s Under-18s moved up to fifth in the U18 Premier League South standings after battling to a 2-1 win at Bodymoor Heath training ground over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The young Foxes sat just a point ahead of the Birmingham-based side heading into the fixture, and had the opportunity to climb several places with a victory.

Their latest outing, meanwhile, resulted in a 3-2 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Youth Cup, despite two penalties from Sidnei Tavares at the People's Pension Stadium.

Just like they had done in Crawley, Leicester got off to a fine start when midfielder Liam Loughlin opened the scoring after just seven minutes.

City, looking to capitalise on their early effort, soon doubled their lead through striker Will Russ, who struck in the 26th minute for his side.

The hosts pulled one back via an own goal from Thomas Sams in the third minute of stoppage time, but Leicester’s first-half strikes proved to be enough to seal all three U18 Premier League South points.

A final fixture of 2019 follows on Saturday 21 December, when the young Foxes entertain Tottenham Hotspur at Belvoir Drive (11:30am kick-off).

They will then resume their 2019/20 campaign in the New Year, when they will travel to Norwich City on Saturday 4 January (12pm kick-off).
