Leicester City were thrilled to make it to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup after a dramatic shootout victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday, according to right-back Ricardo Pereira.

- James Maddison and Jonny Evans were both on target in normal time for City
- After a 2-2 draw, the Foxes won 4-2 on penalties to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup

The Foxes raced into a two-goal lead in the first period after James Maddison, assisted by Ricardo, fired home the first before Jonny Evans made it 2-0 three minutes later.

However, the hosts fought back and restored parity with strikes from Tom Davies and Leighton Baines, but City succeeded 4-2 in the penalty shootout to make it to the last four of the competition.

“It feels good,” Ricardo told LCFC TV. “After a good first half for us we didn’t manage the game well in the second half and taking a goal so late was tough, but we still have something to save the game. Fortunately, we won.

“It was tough but then we knew in the game we were the better team, so if we kept going and believing in ourselves, we can win.

“With Kasper [Schmeichel] in the goal, it’s easier! He’s very good at defending penalties. Fortunately, he’s on our side.”

City’s near 20-year wait for a Carabao Cup Semi-Final berth came to an end on Wednesday, and Ricardo was delighted to be able to reward the Club’s fans with a spot in the last four.

“It’s been so much time that Leicester have been trying to [get to a] semi-final,” Ricardo continued.

“It’s good to go to have more games in this competition and now we will focus on the Premier League and then we have time to think [about it].”
