Following Jamie Vardy's opener, his 17th strike of the 2019/20 season, former Fox Riyad Mahrez, İlkay Gündoğan and Gabriel Jesus’ found the net for the home side at Etihad Stadium.

City's first defeat in 12 matches sees them remain in second place in the Premier League standings, although Manchester City have narrowed the gap to a solitary point.

Reflecting on the encounter in Manchester, Evans, 31, told LCFC TV: "We felt we were a bit unfortunate at half-time. It was 2-1, we were still in the game. We got a goal against the run of play.

"They probably dominated the first half and created a lot of chances. Kasper [Schmeichel] made some good saves and once we scored the goal, they got two goals in quick succession.

"That was disappointing for us. They’re a very good side, they made us work very hard and played some good football.

"I think it’s something you’ve got to learn from. We’ll go and analyse it and see where we can improve. The manager spoke at half-time about being braver on the ball and showing a bit more personality."

With Rodgers' half-time words still fresh in the memory, Evans believes Leicester improved in the second period, but were unable to overturn the deficit.

Looking ahead, the Northern Ireland defender pointed to the nature of City's response to set-backs earlier in the campaign as reason for his team-mates to be confident.

"We did that a bit better in the second-half," he continued. "Like I said, hopefully we can learn from that and I think that’s the most important thing.

"We’ve had games this season, like away at Liverpool, a defeat at Old Trafford, and we’ve responded well after those games, so hopefully we can do the same.

"Liverpool’s going to be a different game. The three games we’ve spoken about have all been away from home, hopefully Liverpool at home will be a different story.

"We’ll probably be a bit more comfortable there and the fans will get behind us. I’m sure it’ll be a great game."
