Lambeth-born Frank had joined Chelsea as an 11-year-old, became an apprentice in 1988, and signed professional forms in May 1990. He made his first team debut in April 1991.
Eight months later, he was loaned to third-tier West Bromwich Albion, where he made six appearances.
For the next six seasons, successively managed by David Webb, Glenn Hoddle, Ruud Gullit and Gianluca Vialli, Frank was a regular first choice for Chelsea.
He was an FA Cup finalist in 1994, a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup semi-finalist in 1995, an FA Cup winner in 1997 and a League Cup victor in 1998.
However, he wasn’t selected for Chelsea side which won UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1998.
That summer, he was selected for Jamaica for the first time and played in all three of their matches at the World Cup finals in France.
His move to Filbert Street soon followed. The following year, he was in the Leicester side which won the League Cup at Wembley.
City were relegated from the Premier League in 2002, but Frank won the Player of the Year Award.
He played a key part in the following season’s promotion which was achieved despite the club spending part of that year in administration.
In his final season at Leicester, Frank won the last of his 29 international caps in a match against Brazil at his home ground at Leicester.
Frank subsequently played in the Championship for Burnley, in League 1 for Huddersfield Town, in League 2 for Lincoln City and Wycombe Wanderers and in non-league football for Wrexham, before managing Colwyn Bay and Hednesford Town, either side of playing for Brackley Town.
