- LCFC to support Heads Up campaign at PL2 clash with Tottenham
- Initiative aims to raise awareness of mental health
- For immediate support, text ‘HeadsUp’ to 85258 to connect with a trained crisis volunteer

Heads Up - launched by the Football Association and Heads Together and spearheaded by The Duke of Cambridge – will harness the influence and popularity of football to show the nation we all have mental health and it is just as important as physical health.

The campaign will strive to raise awareness of mental health, spark conversation and signpost support for those in need, with a crisis text support service established.

Aimed at everyone including players, supporters, friends and families, it is widely recognised that football is a uniquely powerful way to reach men in particular, who are three times more likely to commit suicide than women, with suicide the most likely cause of death for men under the age of 45.

Heads Up hopes to encourage more men to feel comfortable talking about their mental health and feel able to support their friends and families through difficult times.

In support of the campaign, and in line with the Premier League, EFL and FA Women’s Super League, PL2 clubs will be provided with a Heads Up badge to be worn on every player’s shirt sleeve across the dedicated match round of Friday 14 February to Monday 17 February.

Furthermore, City’s youngsters will also warm-up in Heads Up branded t-shirts before the game against Tottenham to show added support to the campaign.

If a fan wants immediate support they can also text ‘HeadsUp’ to 85258 to connect with a trained crisis volunteer, who will chat to them by text message, sharing only what feels comfortable, and help them through the moment, working together on a plan for longer-term support.

This service is available 24/7 and free to text from most mobile networks. It is run by Shout and powered by Crisis Text Line.
