- Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes both scored twice in the success

Braces from Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes secured the Foxes all three points after a dominant performance on Filbert Way.

Having beaten Birmingham City 1-0 on Wednesday, Rodgers lauded his players for delivering another fine display to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Rodgers told LCFC TV: “Any win is important but it’s just nice to get that feeling back in the league.

“We sensed it during the week in the cup game and this is what we’re breeding, this winning mentality.

“You never get too low when you lose, never too high when you get carried away, or when you win, sorry.

“It was just to keep that mentality, we weren’t perfect but there was a lot of good things in the game also.”

Defensively we were solid, Jonny Evans again, absolutely colossal player for us at the back and the two full-backs.

Rodgers had some kind words for countryman Jonny Evans at the full-time whistle, labelling him as a ‘colossal’ defender after he put in a huge shift against Villa.

“Defensively we were solid, Jonny Evans again, absolutely colossal player for us at the back and the two full-backs,” added Rodgers.

“Çağs (Çağlar Söyüncü) wasn’t at the top of his game this evening, he looked a bit loose at times and made one or two mistakes.

“But the back four and goalkeeper were solid in the main and also the team working hard in front of them.”
