City's first team will conclude their third week of training at the Club's training ground this weekend following the suspension of Premier League football due to the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March.

Since then, safety procedures and new ways of working have been implemented at Belvoir Drive to allow the Foxes to train in a safe environment prior to the top flight's provisional return date of 17 June.

Brendan Rodgers' men are scheduled to resume their 2019/20 campaign with a trip to face Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday 20 June (12:30pm kick-off) - if all safety requirements are in place.

Barnes and his Leicester colleagues have recently participated in contact training, in accordance with the Premier League’s Return to Training Protocol, and the Academy graduate has enjoyed the experience.

Speaking to LCFC TV at an appropriate distance, Barnes, 22, said: "It's taken a bit of adjusting to, but it's really good to be back here with everyone, to get some routine back in our schedule.

"It's been really good and it's been a great first few weeks. It's little things on the training ground, which you're not used to. Now we're back into contact training, it's been enjoyable for everyone to get stuck in.

"But then you've also got remember: as soon as you're off the pitch, it's back to social distancing, so there are things that you've got to remember and stick to to keep everyone safe."

Precautions now in place include twice-weekly COVID Antigen Testing (CAT), a two-stage daily screening process upon entry to the facility and personnel reporting at staggered intervals, wearing training kit.

Barnes says City's players recognise the importance of the measures and, with 11 vs. 11 training games on the horizon, the England Under-21s international outlined the importance of adhering to them.

"They're the different things; remembering to take your kit off and put it all in the skip outside," he continued, speaking on Thursday. "You're not allowed inside the building yet and showering too, obviously.

"It's good. It's good to get back out with everyone, but we've got to remember the rules. The first week was frustrating, seeing everyone but not being able to actually get stuck in and training properly again.

"It's been great to get back into playing little games and we're starting to do a few big-size games now, a few 11 vs. 11s, so it's starting to feel a bit more normal now."
