Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, next month's fixtures will be many players' first piece of international action in 2020, with UEFA Nations League action dominating the agenda.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is in contention to earn his 54th and 55th caps for Denmark as Kasper Hjulmand's men face Belgium and England in the Nations League group stage.

The Danes are first in action at Parken against Belgium on Saturday 5 September (7:45pm kick-off), before also hosting the Three Lions on Tuesday 8 September (7:45pm kick-off).

Schmeichel last appeared for his country in a 1-1 draw with Republic of Ireland in November, enabling them to qualify for UEFA EURO 2020, which is now set for next summer.

Schmeichel has been a Denmark regular for many years.

Elsewhere, midfielders Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet could come up against the Foxes shot-stopper when their Belgium side travel to Copenhagen.

After tackling Denmark on the preceding Saturday, the Red Devils entertain Iceland at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Tuesday 8 September (7:45pm kick-off).

Tielemans has represented Belgium 28 times, including at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, while Praet has earned six caps, most recently in a 6-1 success over Cyprus in November.

Centre-back Çağlar Söyüncü, on the other hand, is also in line for a double-header of Nations League outings as Turkey tackle Hungary and Serbia.

On Thursday 3 September, Söyüncü and his international team-mates host the Hungarians (7:45pm kick-off), before facing Serbia, away, on Sunday 6 September (7:45pm kick-off).

Praet and Tielemans could appear alongside one another against Schmeichel this summer.

The 24-year-old has made 17 of his 28 appearances for The Crescent-Stars since joining the Foxes in the summer of 2018 and was integral to their successful EURO qualification campaign.

Defensive Leicester colleague Jonny Evans is also in contention for Northern Ireland in Nations League encounters with Romania and Norway over the coming weeks.

Ian Baraclough's side are in Bucharest on Friday 4 September (7:45pm kick-off), before returning to Windsor Park for a fixture against Norway on Monday 7 September (7:45pm kick-off).

Evans, the second most decorated player in Northern Irish football history, currently stands on 84 caps for his country after making his debut 14 years ago.

Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward, meanwhile, has been selected by Ryan Giggs as the Dragons travel to Finland on Thursday 3 September (7:45pm kick-off).

A 0-0 draw with the Netherlands in November was Evans' last international outing.

Following that clash in Helsinki, Wales return to the UK to host Bulgaria in Cardiff on Sunday 6 September (2pm kick-off) as Ward looks to add to his seven international appearances.

In youth team football, meanwhile, James Justin could feature as England's Under-21s head to Pristina City Stadium to tackle Kosovo (6pm kick-off) next Friday.

The Young Lions - top of their U21 qualification group after four games - then travel to Keine Sorgen Arena to face Austria on Tuesday 8 September (7:30pm kick-off).

Finally, Development Squad striker Josh Eppiah has also been selected for potential Belgium Under-21s action against Germany on Tuesday 8 September at OHL's Den Dreef (3pm kick-off)
