- Sowah’s solitary effort secured all three Jupiler Pro League points at King Power at Den Dreef Stadion
- Iversen secured his first clean sheet since his loan move to the Belgian side last month

Both on a season-long loan at the Belgian outfit, Sowah and Iversen started from the off at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium as Marc Brys' side contested their fifth league fixture of 2020/21.

Leuven inflicted a first defeat of the season upon an unbeaten Standard side that, heading into the match, had won three of their opening four fixtures to occupy second place in the early Jupiler Pro League standings.

Daniel Iversen made his fourth appearance for Leuven in their 1-0 victory over Standard Liège.

The breakthrough goal, courtesy of Sowah, came on 77 minutes, when he latched onto Xavier Mercier’s pass before taking a touch and firing low beyond Arnaud Bodart in the opposition net.

It proved to be Sowah’s fifth appearance of the season for Leuven, having set up Mercier in the 3-1 win at Waasland Beveren in late August, while outing no.4 for Iversen led to his first shutout for the Belgian side.

Up next for Sowah and Iversen is a trip to K.V. Oostende’s Versluys Arena in the Jupiler Pro League on Saturday 19 September (3:15pm BST kick-off).
