Ritchie De Laet, Jamie Vardy and Nathan Dyer all found the net in a dramatic late showing from the Foxes, who climbed to second in the top flight table after five games of the 2015/16 season.
Under the management of Claudio Ranieri, the Foxes were proving to be a surprise package during the early weeks of the new campaign, despite having pre-season title odds of 5,000/1.
Back-to-back wins over Sunderland and West Ham United were followed by successive draws with Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth, before Villa travelled to King Power Stadium.
However, it was the visitors who deservedly took the lead six minutes before half-time, when Jack Grealish found the net.
He curled in Villa's opener from the edge of the box after Leicester failed to clear a corner, putting the away side a goal to the good at the break.
It would get even better for Tim Sherwood's men when Carles Gil swept home his first-ever Premier League goal just after the hour mark, after good play from Gabriel Agbonlahor down the left.
But Leicester - determined to keep their unbeaten start to the season intact - roared back late on, first through De Laet, who flicked in Riyad Mahrez's corner at the near post.
More good work from Mahrez set up Danny Drinkwater, who found Vardy in the middle to poke home from close range and level the scores with eight minutes remaining.
Then, in the final minute of normal time, Mahrez was once again the provider, floating a cross into the box for Dyer to bravely head past Brad Guzan and seal a remarkable comeback victory for the Foxes.
Having signed on loan from Swansea City on deadline day, the winger had made an immediate impact, sending the Blue Army into wild celebrations at King Power Stadium.
In a record stretching back to the end of the previous campaign, City were nine games unbeaten, winning six of those, and had collected 33 points from the last 14 games.
After moving up into the top two, Ranieri praised the spirit of the team to come from behind and snatch victory.
"It was a fantastic second half. We know they played better early on but after 2-0 we started to play with our spirit and it was a very fantastic match," the Italian commented after the final whistle. "We scored a good first goal that gave confidence to everybody and maybe Villa players were wondering what could happen now."
