After officially becoming part of the Leicester City family during the summer of 2020, LCFC Women have begun the FA Women's Championship season in fine form, remaining unbeaten in the opening five league matches.

Morgan says the transition has been smooth, with players old and new settling into life within a full-time environment, with the support and backing of the Club.

"It's been a long journey to get to this point today, but it's been a real positive journey working with the men's team," Morgan revealed to LCFC TV.

"It's been really, really easy, to keep the values with there being no dramatic change since the integration, it has been really seamless.

"Leicester have worked really hard over the years and there's been many positive conversations to get to this point. We're really pleased to be full-time and integrated with the men. Yes, change happens, but I feel everyone's settled in really well.

"And it's been really, really easy to keep the values with there being no dramatic change since the integration, it has been really seamless. Obviously, things have gone good, we've got some lessons to learn on how to improve things in the future, but it's a learning process.

"Everybody's gelling and settling in, it's a new team, full-time for the first time for many of them. I'm always there at the games, I watch nervously, excitedly, but you know, I'm really pleased with how they're looking."

Joining the Club earlier this year was Head of Women's and Girls' Football Russ Fraser, along with a host of new signings brought in from the Women's Super League and beyond, as well as former Fox Emile Heskey, who has come on board in an ambassadorial role.

The core of the team remains from previous seasons, including manager Jonathan Morgan, captain Holly Morgan and several local players looking to make an impact in the elite game. Morgan believes it is a huge positive to be helping existing players and staff move forward in their careers.

"That's one thing that is a key ethos of mine: just giving people opportunities from the staff side of things," she continued.

Former Foxes forward Emile Heskey has come on board in an ambassadorial role.

"We've got a lot staff that deserve the opportunity to come with us full-time and enjoy the journey with us and work hard to help us flourish and progress.

"From the playing point of view, it's nice to see young Leicester girls coming through the ranks. It's just kind of realising a true player pathway.

"It's a joy to work with Emile [Heskey]. We've had copious amount meetings with him now, and he's not just coming in as a one-off.

"He's actually really resourceful and a real integral part for the girls, but also for me as the General Manager. So yes, he's a real asset to the Club."

While Morgan and the team have lofty ambitions for the future, feet remain firmly on the ground and fully focussed on the present campaign, which currently sees City lie third in the second tier of women's football.

"We're really wanting to establish ourselves in this league," Morgan added. "We've been in the Championship for two years now and we're going into our third year as a full time Football Club.

LCFC Women have won three of their first five FA Women's Championship fixtures in 2020/21.

"We've had some good, positive results and we're just looking to stay in our own lane. We know our goals, we know our objectives, we just focus on ourselves.

"But we've also got to give kudos. It's a very, very good league to be in, with a high calibre of teams in it so we just want to remain true to ourselves, grow and just enjoy the journey.

"The only way is up for the girls now so it's really exciting."
