Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Leicester City have no fresh injury concerns going into Thursday's UEFA Europa League clash at AEK Athens.

- Jamie Vardy is in contention to start for Leicester City at AEK Athens on Thursday (5:55pm kick-off)
- Manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed City's No.9 is recovering well from a calf issue
- The 33-year-old came off the bench to score the winner at Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday
- City have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Thursday's outing in the Greek capital, Rodgers says

Following an opening day success over Zorya Luhansk, Group G leaders City have headed to Athens to tackle AEK on matchday two in the Europa League on Thursday (5:55pm kick-off).

While Wilfred Ndidi (adductor), Ricardo Pereira (ACL) and Çağlar Söyüncü (adductor) are certain to miss out, Rodgers said on Wednesday that no new issues have arisen since Sunday's win at Arsenal.

Jamie Vardy, meanwhile, scored in the 80th minute of that visit to Emirates Stadium in the Premier League and City's No.9 is in contention to appear from the start, the 47-year-old confirmed.

"He's available," he said. "The plan was to play him in the last 30 minutes. You can see how the dynamic changes when he comes on. He's a world-class striker. He's travelled and available to play, if selected."

While Leicester's depth is being tested by a tight fixture schedule and several injuries to key members of the squad, Rodgers has been enthused by the performances of all his players over previous weeks.

When we have the guys back, like Ndidi, Ricardo and Çağs, we’ll be much better as a squad, because a lot of these guys are having game time

As well as sitting atop of Group G in the Europa League, the Foxes are also fourth in the Premier League, after winning four of their opening six matches in the league.

"We see [the Europa League] as a very important competition," the Northern Irishman told the media. "Obviously, we have a number of injuries, but all the players who are fit and available have all travelled.

"We have everybody else available, ready to play, and we’ll be looking to get a good result. When you have one game a week, it’s a lot easier picking teams, but in Europe, your best XI is the XI you pick.

"I’ve been absolutely delighted with how the guys have performed. We performed at a really high level in the last game.

"With players that maybe haven’t played so much, like Papy Mendy and James Justin, they were sat outside a lot last year, but now we’re seeing the importance of them.

"When we have the guys back, like Ndidi, Ricardo and Çağs, we’ll be much better as a squad, because a lot of these guys are having game time.

We pick the XI that we believe can get the result and we'll have the same idea tomorrow in order to have a freshness, but of course, we still want that consistency within it all.

Brendan Rodgers

"You pick the best XI for the next game and I have a trust in the squad, no matter how old or young they are. That feeling is redundant when you’re in a competition with so many games.

"You look to bring a big intensity in every game. All the players are getting up to speed. Some of them were a little bit behind, but they’re arriving at a good level of fitness."

Speaking more generally about rotation, Rodgers explained why every member of his European squad has a role to play as three-game weeks form much of City's winter schedule.

"There's no doubt that for all the teams in Europe, it's a hectic schedule," he continued. "There's no way on this Earth that 11 players will go through every single game and play to the level you want.

"We pick the XI that we believe can get the result and we'll have the same idea tomorrow in order to have a freshness, but of course, we still want that consistency within it all.

"But certainly, there's specific positions that will require change, but we try to minimise those as much as possible in order to keep the fluency. We need to always have energy in the team."
