- Emile Heskey answered the Blue Army’s questions as part of an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday
- The former Leicester City striker discussed the current squad’s defensive and attacking strengths
- He was also asked about his time as a Fox, during which he won two League Cups
An icon of one of the Foxes’ most successful periods while under the guidance of Martin O’Neill, Heskey made over 150 appearances for his boyhood club, lifting the League Cup twice, as well as sealing promotion to the Premier League in 1996.
He was an integral member of O’Neill’s side, and is undoubtedly one of the Club’s most successful Academy graduates after going on to represent England 62 times.
On Tuesday, he was on hand to field a number of questions from the Blue Army, including those concentrating on present day proceedings, as well as his time at Filbert Street.
Here’s the pick of the questions and answers from the Q&A session…
Which LCFC defender would you not like to face the most?
Wesley Fofana – he’s a very quick, strong and commanding defender. He’d be the one that’d probably be a lot more difficult than the others. [Çağlar] Söyüncü is very good as well – he’s strong and he’s good in the air.
Favourite goal for Leicester?
My favourite Leicester goal, I’d have to say, would be one of my two against Derby. I think we scored four in something like 15 minutes, and I scored a couple of headers. Scoring against Derby was always nice!
You wore 9 and 11 for the Foxes – which number should I get on my retro shirt?
I was a striker, obviously, and I enjoyed playing upfront with the likes of Tony Cottee and Steve Claridge. I had a brief spell with Stan Collymore, which was exciting as well, but no.9 is the one for me with me being a striker.
What was your best moment with Leicester?
We had so many to be honest, with us going to so many cup finals. But, I’d have to say the Play-Off Final, because winning that and knowing that we went up into the Premier League was absolutely huge… and I was 18 years-old!
Best ever City shirt?
In the '94 to '96 season’s shirt, I made my debut in 1995. It was a great honour to put on that shirt and make my first team debut at 17.
Would you have liked to partner with Vards up top?
If me and Jamie Vardy played up front together, you would definitely be looking at 30 goals a season!
What do you think of Kelechi’s new form?
Kelechi [Iheanacho] has done fantastic, to be honest with the lad. He’s been scoring goals and that’s what we need. He complemented what Vardy does in a tough time when we were struggling, so well done to him!
