The Foxes were beaten by the league leaders at King Power Stadium after second-half strikes from Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus.

Söyüncü was unavailable for the match, which saw Leicester suffer their first loss in five outings across all competitions.

“There was a number of players in Turkey that had a positive test for COVID and he was one of those players,” Rodgers said in his post-match press conference. “He’s still out there in Turkey in a bubble with the national team, so we’re working the best process to get him back and available.

“He’s fine, he’s had a number of negative tests while he was away playing, and just before he was coming back, a number of them were positive. We’re just in a process with the Club and the federation out there looking at the best options and hopefully, like I say, we can get him back and get him playing as soon as he can.

“With the requirements of isolation and everything else, that’s what we’re working over there, the Club is working with the Turkish federation to confirm where we’re at. But I would think he was highly unlikely to play in that game [vs. West Ham United].

“We’re in that process of seeing what’s going to be the best. There’s going to be regulations because he’s been away internationally, and he’s had COVID over there. The most important thing is he’s good and he’s feeling fine. Like I say, we’ll go through the process of seeing when he’ll be back.”
