The Foxes arrived in Manchester for the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Fifth Round clash as underdogs, facing a side who finished fourth in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this term.

But the FA Women’s Championship champions showed their credentials against the top flight side, twice coming from behind to eventually triumph 3-2 thanks to goals from Shannon O’Brien, Hannah Cain and top scorer Natasha Flint.

Speaking afterwards, City’s Golden Glove-winning shot-stopper was elated to have pulled off a memorable win over the Red Devils, which sees Leicester progress through to the quarter-finals of the competition for the second season running.

“I don’t think it’s sunk in yet,” Levell admitted, speaking to LCFC TV following full-time at Leigh Sports Village.

This just shows what a year it’s been and we’re very happy to be in the next round of the cup.

“We’ve come today and completed our game plan that we’ve been working so hard on in training this week.”

With the remaining rounds of the 2020/21 Women’s FA Cup to take place at the start of next season, Leicester entered the game knowing that this would be the final fixture of the campaign.

Ahead of the Club’s maiden season in the WSL, Levell felt it was a fitting end to secure such a result: "This just shows what a year it’s been and we’re very happy to be in the next round of the cup. I absolutely love it here. I can only highlight the fact that I’ve made the right decision to come to this Club.”

The Foxes goalkeeper kept the joint-most clean sheets in the FA Women's Championship this season.

One of only two Championship teams left in the competition, City are likely to face another top tier side when the draw for the last eight comes around next season.

Following Leicester City’s Emirates FA Cup Final victory on Saturday - lifting the trophy for the first time – the former Everton ‘keeper also pointed to the Club’s ongoing success for both senior teams and why it is a privilege to play for the Foxes.

“The men are doing well, we’re doing well, and we just want to keep on this roll and keep continuing the journey as long as we can now,” Levell added.

“I think we’re excited to take on any opposition (in the next round). If we get the game plan right, whoever we play against, I think we always put ourselves in good stead moving forward. We just want to continue as far as we can together.”
