Leicester City’s charitable arm, Leicester City in the Community has received a grant from NHS Charities Together to help support local communities with health inequalities.

- NHS Charities Together compromises of three local NHS Charities; Leicester Hospitals Charity, Raising Health (Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust) and East Midlands Ambulance Charitable Fund
- LCitC’s ‘United Leicester’ will use the money to deliver activities to promote physically active and healthy lifestyles
- The Club's charitable arm is one of seven community projects that will receive a share of the £490,000 grant

Leicester City in the Community, along with six other community projects, have received a grant from NHS Charities Together to increase the reach of the United Leicester project by providing weekly sport and activity sessions and establish a mental wellbeing portal to support adults.

While United Leicester had an emphasis on supporting children to be active over the last 24 months, getting the youngsters involved in sports such as football, cricket and rugby, the project will now expand and include an adult health and wellbeing focus.

United Leicester will yet again see a partnership between local professional sports club charities - Leicester Tigers Foundation, Riders Foundation and Leicestershire County Cricket Foundation - to support adult mental health and encourage communities to lead healthy lifestyles.

Club mascot Filbert Fox took part in several activities, including basketball, during the previous launch of United Leicester in 2019.

Matt Bray, Leicester City in the Community Health and Wellbeing Manager discusses the NHS Charities Together partner project: “The United Leicester approach reaches out to fans and residents throughout the city and county and utilises the USP of each club to engage across our diverse communities.”

Leicester Hospitals Charity Director, Lisa Davies, explains that the three NHS charities are proud to support local projects such as United Leicester: “Through this funding from NHS Charities Together, we are delighted to lend a helping hand to these important projects as they support people in our communities.”

United Leicester's launch event is taking place on Tuesday 29th June at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium.
