- Abbi Grant becomes LCFC Women’s fourth summer signing, joining after two seasons at Birmingham City

The forward, fresh from enjoying two seasons in England's top-flight with Birmingham City, and is now looking to kick on by joining what she believes is an ambitious, forward-thinking club.
Grant, whose signing was announced on Wednesday, has been impressed with LCFC Women's continued progression on and off the field, citing the FA Women’s Championship title and why it is an exciting time to join Leicester's journey, heading into the WSL.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be here,” the 25-year-old revealed in her first interview with LCFC TV. “Leicester City is such a huge club and I’ve admired watching the women’s team for a while now.
“I love the direction that the Club is going in and as soon as there was some interest, it was something that I wanted to be a part of.
“It’s amazing, I obviously saw that (the Club gaining promotion) and it’s great to win things. It’ll be good, that will help going into the WSL this year, coming off the back of that, it will probably help drive us to win games again.
“I feel like each year they just keep growing and growing. Like I say, I’ve been looking at that and that was one of my main factors in coming here.”
Preliminary talks with the manager, Jonathan Morgan, further solidified her positive thoughts about joining the Foxes, as did the impressive facilities at Belvoir Drive, which she hopes can be a driving force in laying the foundations for the campaign ahead.
Grant explained: “I came down and he [Jonathan Morgan] was just saying that he wanted me to be a big part of the squad and hopefully I can help and bring something different.
“He showed me around the great facilities, that convinced me as well. I feel like if you’ve got all these facilities and all that backing, it can only make you better as a player.
“I just want to be the best version of me and hopefully I can give a lot to the Club and I feel like all the facilities and the backing that we’ve got can help me do that.
A Scotland international with six senior caps to her name, Dundee-born Grant’s international experience is also complimented by a host of honours at club level, primarily with the all-conquering Glasgow City in the SWPL.
Collecting six trophies across two spells and three seasons in the Scottish capital, Grant then won the Belgian Super League title with RSC Anderlecht, prior to moving to England.
The attacker also talked about her own playing style and how she expects to fit into the squad, joining former Birmingham team-mate Georgia Brougham in making Leicester her next destination.
“It’s always nice to know a couple of faces,” Grant added. “It helps you to settle in quick and can introduce you and help you along the way, so it is good to see them here as well.
“I’m quite a direct player, I like to attack, I like to get at players, I like to link the play, so I think I can give quite a lot of attacking attributes to the team.
“At every club that I’ve been to, I’ve always tried to bring a winning mentality. Since I was 17 years-old that’s just been driven into me no matter what, especially being at Glasgow City.
“They’ve won everything and that’s basically what I was a part of. Wherever I am, I just want to win. So hopefully I can bring that mentality here.”
