- Angel volunteers to referee the younger group when there are limited numbers
- He has future aspirations to play for Leicester City’s Academy
- PL Kicks sessions are free football sessions delivered by Leicester City in the Community for eight to 18-year-olds

Angel, a regular member of the older age-group PL Kicks session at Beaumont Park, has been taking part for over a year and joins in every week.

Leicester City in the Community’s Community Engagement coaches have supported Angel during the sessions, including offering him advice about his future and considering which subjects he plans to take at college.

Jack Johnson, Community Engagement Coach at Leicester City in the Community, discusses Angel’s attendance and commitment.

He commented: “As soon as we started back up after coming out of lockdown, Angel was the first one through the gates. His attitude is impeccable – he is just a model for the young people to look up to.”

PL Kicks participant, Angel gets involved in more sessions by volunteering to referee matches.

Displaying his dedication to the community session, Angel arrives early and volunteers to help referee the younger group’s matches.

Discussing his future, Angel reveals that he would like to get into Leicester City’s Academy, but also really wants to continue his education.

“Jack teaches me new stuff and indicates me towards being good – he’s helped me a lot,” says Angel. “I didn’t have anyone to play football with so I started coming and got know a lot of people.

"It’s amazing. I think it’s really cool the opportunities that they give us to meet new people.”
