Leicester City’s Under-18s got up and running in 2021/22 with a 1-0 success away at Brighton & Hove Albion Under-18s on Saturday.

Following last weekend’s home defeat to Crystal Palace Under-18s, the young Foxes bounced back to claim their first three points of the Premier League U18 south campaign.

Two changes were made from that side with goalkeeper Arlo Doherty and midfielder Kartell Dawkins coming in for Kelechi Chibueze and Chris Popov, as City switched to a 4-5-1 formation for the clash on the south coast.

Jack Butterfill scored the only goal of the game at the Amex Elite Football Performance Centre, applying the finishing touch on 37 minutes after being set up by Kian Pennant, who had found the net on matchday one.

The goalscorer was then replaced by Abdullah Javid with 10 minutes to go as the visitors held on to secure a maiden victory.

Leicester move up to ninth in the Premier League U18 South table ahead of welcoming Reading Under-18s to LCFC Training Ground for matchday three on Saturday 28 August (12pm BST kick-off).
